M. Elena Renda
M. Elena Renda is a visiting Research Scientist within the JTL Transit and Mobility Lab, at DUSP-MIT, and a researcher at the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the National Research Council (IIT - CNR) in Pisa, Italy. She received the MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, and the Ph.D. Degree in Information Engineering from the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Italy.
Elena has worked within the field of Information Retrieval, P2P, Mesh Networks, VANets, and algorithms for Bioinformatics, also developing web tools for the bio-community. Since 2010 Elena has been working on Intelligent Transportation Systems, and she is currently involved in several projects related to ITS. In particular, she works on defining, studying and exploiting mobility sharing, and evaluating its environmental, economic, and social effects. Investigating privacy and security issues and their implications within the smart mobility realm is one of her main interests as well.
One of her most recent research interests is the exploitation of the (economic, social, environmental) sustainability of ubiquitous EV transition.
Elena loves walking on the beach (in winter too), doing yoga, traveling, gardening and cooking, and she is very passionate in experimenting new recipes from around the world, and in transferring her passion and her Italian food heritage to her 3 beloved children (Bianca, Marta and Andrea).
